My one on one with a Legend! Join me if you can

It’s the Life Productions presents, Inside the Studio, a series of live format events bringing Philadelphia a different type of experience. It’s an intimate experience between you, the fan, and your favorite artist. Inside the Studio provides the setting for a beginning of an understanding of WHO an artist truly is and what the factors are that led them to excellence in their craft. Whether presenting deejays, producers, emcees, visual artists, musicians or any other discipline, Inside the Studio is proud to spotlight Philadelphia artists who are recognized for what they bring to their craft and how they have taken that craft a few steps further affording them recognition all around the world.

To guide this experience, Inside the Studio provides resident deejay, DJ Afrodjiak, a well known selector on the Philly scene; and host, Laiya St. Clair, a Philadelphia radio and television personality who uses her passion for arts and culture to guide us through the layers of each artist. As an acquaintance of many of the artists featured on Inside the Studio, Laiya will lend a unique air of discussion rather than your typical interview as well as keep the vibe comfortable for the artist and engaging for the audience.

We debuted our series with Black Thought with great success. For the second installment we stay rooted in South Philadelphia, where our next subject was raised. Living legend Kenny Gamble IS the pride of Philadelphia and a true reflection of the "American Dream". It was Kenny Gamble and his partner Leon Huff who put Philadelphia on the musical map. Not only has he been responsible for over 170 Gold and Platinum records, Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, given a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, just to name a few accolades, but he has also reinvested his time and money back into his community more then any other music mogul to date. He started with the "Clean Up the Ghetto" movement and continues the movement with Universal Companies. While Kenny Gamble's achievements are both remarkable and commendable it is the journey that led him to these accomplishments that make his story even more significant, inspirational and motivational. Being a product of South Philadelphia the beginnings of his life mirror many, but what was it that He knew that the rest of the children he grew up with didn't? What step did he take to change his direction in life? What and who did he affiliate with to put him on his path to success? How did that first song HE wrote get into the right hands to catapult a movement? Why put a "Message in the Music"? How was he able to continuously deliver the message without being tainted or watered down by record executives? These questions and more will be asked June 27th (tentative) as we end Black Music Month with the man who created Black Music Month, Kenny Gamble.

Inside the Studio takes place at Warmdaddy's, a comfortable yet cool setting with ample free parking. Comfort food, cocktails and good conversation with various talented Philly Legends and Legends in the making. Nothing more, nothing less. Keeping the vibe comfortable and engaging, there will also be a brief Audience Q&A.
