Ahhh its been a sec I know but boy what catchin up we have to do

First and foremost...RIP MICHAEL JACKSON!!!! I saw him in concert during the "Bad" tour as a kid and it was a show unlike no other. Remember the female guitar player who hair lit up in lights!?!?!? And no I never got a chance to meet Michael but my godbrothers did lol. .....

Needless to say I have felt a slight void ever since last Thursday. He was apart of the soundtrack of my life. I cant believe he outlived all his older friends. Think about it. Elizabeth Taylor, Quincy Jones, Liza, Stevie, Dianna!?!? I bet they never would of thought their "young boy" (thats how I picture it in my mind lol) would be gone before them. So anyway so there has been of course some negative news (which i have tried to stay away from) and of course lots of love for Mike. I found some interesting video of Michael talking about his Blackness. And its ill because it makes me think of those stories that Aresenio and Eddie and even Dre and Vidal tell of how real Mike was. Check out the reality...

I apologize for not being around lately. Its been so much going on right? I mean life period for me has been at maybe one of its craziest. Crazier then when I was in college in ATL working at my college radio station and cocktail waitressing at The Gold Club all at the same time lol. And how about the rest of the world right now? Steve McNair? Michael? And now they not lettin the brown babies swim in the POOL?

But yet in the midst of so much mess there are certain things making me smile. Like the new Reflection Eternal video with Kweli and Res!

Thanks for that Kanye! As a matter of fact while I was visiting Kanye he put me on to this lil jewel too...

How cool is that?!?!? I mean really? lol

Oh and The Tim Burton remake of "Alice in Wonderland" made me smile too! Check out the details and the pics! I love a good Burton/Depp Collaboration!

Those who have grown curiouser and curiouser about what the offbeat reinventor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might conjure up in his version of Alice in Wonderland can feast their eyes on this array of concept art and publicity images, due to hang in movie theaters this week to promote the March 5, 2010, release."It has been Burton-ized" is how producer Richard Zanuck describes the director's vision of the Lewis Carroll classic. Many elements are familiar, from the enigmatic Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) to the fierce Jabberwock (Christopher Lee). But none has been presented in this sort of visually surreal fashion."We finished shooting in December after only 40 days," Zanuck says. Now the live action is being merged with CG animation and motion-capture creatures, and then transferred into 3-D.The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember.Among those who welcome her back is the Mad Hatter, a part tailor-made for Johnny Depp as he collaborates with Burton for the seventh time. "This character is off his rocker," Zanuck says.Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, 19, best known for HBO's In Treatment, has the coveted title role. "There is something real, honest and sincere about her," Zanuck says. "She's not a typical Hollywood starlet."There is the usual Burton-esque ghoulishness (Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen, whose favorite retort is "Off with their heads," has a moat filled with bobbing noggins), but Zanuck assures most kids can handle it. "The book itself is pretty dark," he notes. "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."

Oh and it made me smile to see Will and Jada supporting lil Jaden as he becomes the next "Karate Kid" (dont know how they gonna bring life back to that, but A for effort)

Oh and Trice made me smile too! lol

Wait Kelis broke and pregnant? Nas owns 5 homes!?!?!?

Im all confused! Sorry this is the first story I saw when I turned the computer on lol. According to Sources...

Kelis says that estranged husband Nas has cut her off without a penny--just as she is expecting their child this month. According to legal papers, rap star Nas is not paying any prenatal expenses and Kelis is flat broke. "I have run out of money," she said. Kelis is asking a judge to order Nas to pay spousal support, child support, all pregnancy-related expenses, and one half of all medical expenses after the child is born. She also wants $3,500 for the baby nurse after the child's birth, and $20,000 for strollers, cribs, and other baby supplies. Kelis says she is entitled to maintain the lifestyle she became accustomed to during their marriage. That was a lifestyle that involved owning expensive jewelery, like a diamond bracelet worth $190,000, a 9-carat, cushion-cut solitaire diamond engagement ring, and numerous watches "such as Cartier, Rolex, Frank Muller, and Chopard." The couple also owns five homes.
Nas has not yet responded.

Just another violent Saturday in Philly...

So Im on my favorite Philly website, duh Philly.com, and damn what a Saturday? Somebody leaped off a bridge?

Saturday was another violent day in Philadelphia:
* At 9:15 a.m., after four hours of negotiations, an alleged three-time bank robber jumped to his death from the Platt Bridge in South Philadelphia.
* At 7:52 p.m., a North Philadelphia man was fatally shot twice in the torso and once in the back, before his killer fled.
* At 9:59 p.m., a career criminal with 13 prior arrests was shot in the shoulder, trying to grab a patrolman's gun while fighting with him in Frankford.

I think its time to start of the week fresh! But wait lets go back real quick, because I heard it was a litte bit of a rowdy weekend. And not just the Black folks lol. I hear there was a COUNTRY music fest over there at the Tweeter Center (I cant spell that new name lol). And from what I hear those folks get it in...Parking lot dirty beyond belief and a couple found in the neighboring Campbell's Field "gettin it in" in the dugout getting it in! lol

And since Im keeping it local right now, biggups to the Philadelphi Daily News for this lil video acknowloging the cops that are vital to the community, those who actually care. Take a look at what a cop should be...

And just because I like to balance the good with the bad. Question, what would you think that the 3000th Mural painted in Philly would represent?

Answer: The Tuskegee Airmen! As it should be! Go check it out at 39th Street near Chestnut!

Ahhhh its been far too long since I have blogged FOR REAL

And I must admit its all my fault. Damn that love bug! Well not to worry my priorties a back in order and boy are there a lot of things to cover, but first things first! Happy Black Music Month! I know we are half way in but in the words of Sir Luther "its neva too much neva too much". So I would like to first salute Mr. Bill Withers.

A man I met this year at the Legends of R&B Pioneer awards. And he is cool as hell! Now I must first say that visually the man keeps gettin better (cutie pie) and well if youre not familiar with the music COME ON! LOVELY DAY! LEAN ON ME! GRANDMA's HANDS! Ok sorry got a littl excited, but look him up. My favorite Bill Withers cuts are "Can we pretend" and "I want to spend the night". Below is a trailer for an upcoming documentary about his life. Looks really cool....

Philly ! Philly! you make me proud...

Dear Kengsington (a Philly neighborhood),

I am truly proud of you for taking a tragic matter into your own hands. If you hadnt heard recently an 11 year old girl was walking to school and was taken my gunpoint to an abandoned area and brutally raped by a monster named Jose Carrasquillo. When the monster's photo was released some neighbors recognized the monster walking down the street and the neighborhood gots to kickin some ass.....For all my sensitive at heart...he's still alive but hes in critical condition...Go Kengsington! Way to protect our babies!
